Xpeng (pronounced Xiaopeng in Chinese), also known as Xiaopeng Motors, was founded in 2014. It is headquartered in Guangzhou, and electric vehicle production is set up in Zhaoqing. The company also has offices in the United States and Europe. Lei Jun, the founder of Chinese technology giant Xiaomi, owns a controlling stake. Foreign media say the P7 is a major competitor to the Tesla model 3 car. Last year, Tesla sued its former employee who stole the Autotopilot source code and delivered it to Xpeng. Thus, Xpeng motors’ autopilot technology is currently the most advanced and costs half as much as Tesla’s.

Xpeng unveiled the P7 electric car in April 2020. The company itself claims that the new model is the most high-performance, fastest-charging and has the longest range compared to its competitors. The Xpeng P7 was created in collaboration between Chinese technology conglomerates Alibaba and Xiaomi. The car is based on Alibaba’s state-of-the-art Alibaba In-Car Mini APP platform. The platform brought together all the most advanced voice and visual interaction technologies based on artificial intelligence. The Xpeng P7 looks spectacular and impetuous and even in a car showroom evokes associations with sporty four-door coupes. The P7 uses Brembo/Bosch brakes and the new generation Bosch iBooster braking system itself, which allows to recover almost 100% of the energy. The braking distance from 100 km/h is only 35 m.

The car is equipped with premium Dynaudio “music” and it produces simply stunning sound. And watching the high-frequency speakers with backlighting move out of the front panel when you turn it on, you get a kind of aesthetic pleasure. There are exactly two physical buttons – for switching the car off and the alarm system. Both are located on the ceiling, where in other cars there is a case. Instead of controls there are gigantic sizes of the central display and panels on the steering wheel.
The 14.96-inch center screen has 2K resolution. Underneath, there is wireless charging, two cupholders, and a central box that can be opened in the manner of a BMW or Mercedes. By the way, the box is quite roomy, with two USB sockets and a socket hidden in it.
The interior is richly finished in leather and eco-leather. Comfortable upholstered seats. The driver has speakers in the headrest, and the rear seat has a comfortable armrest with cup holders.
All possible driving aids are available for the car. The car parks itself, even without a driver in the passenger compartment. There is a system of active lane-keeping and self-steering into another lane. The sedan brakes before an obstacle, has autopilot and adaptive cruise control, keyless access, three driving modes (Eco, Standard, Sport) and many other useful and not so useful functions, like a light show, which arranges all external car optics to the music. By the way, it is fully LED and shines perfectly.
